The πατὴρ γέρων or ἅλιος γέρων is known to later mythology as Nereus, but is never named in Homer. (In Od.4 Proteus also is called ἅλιος γέρων.) The nymphs are named Νηρηΐδες only in a passage of doubtful authenticity, 18.38, 52. |
